  • How do I find out what jobs are available?

All fulltime, part time, and seasonal positions are advertised on Eggleston Services’ website at www.EgglestonServices.org and through the Virginia Employment Commission. Some jobs are advertised in the Virginian Pilot or the Daily Press as well. You may call the Job Hotline at 321-6881 to hear a recording about open positions or you may stop in person at our Corporate Office at 1161 Ingleside Rd. Norfolk, VA during business hours to view job postings.

  • How can I apply for a job with Eggleston Services?

Eggleston Services only accepts applications for positions that are currently being advertised. To apply for a position you must fill out and submit an application form. Applications can be printed off the Eggleston Services’ website at www.EgglestonServices.org or you may come to the Corporate Office at 1161 Ingleside Rd. Norfolk, VA. Also most Eggleston Services’ program locations can provide applications during business hours. Completed applications can be mailed to the Corporate Office, faxed to 757-627-4760, or sent as an e-mail attachment to HR@EgglestonServices.org. A closing date is listed on each job posting. Applications must be received before the end of the day on the closing date to be considered.

  • Is there a deadline for submitting an employment application?

A closing date is listed on each job posting and advertisement. Applications must be received before the end of the day on the closing date to be considered.

  • Where do I find an employment application form?

Applications can be printed off the Eggleston Services’ website at www.EgglestonServices.org or applications can be obtained at the Corporate Office at 1161 Ingleside Rd. Norfolk, VA.  Also most Eggleston Services’ program locations can provide applications during business hours.

  • What if I need help completing the application form?

The Human Resources staff will assist anyone who needs help completing the application. To ensure that you do not have to wait it is best to call the Corporate Office at 858-8011 and schedule an appointment to meet with the Human Resources staff.

  • What if I am interested in more than one job?

Each time you submit an application it is used only for the particular job opening you are applying for. Eggleston Services does not hold applications for future positions. An application form is required for each position that is of interest to you.

  • What does a “Criminal background check” mean?

Because Eggleston Services has a number of government contracts and because we provide services to people with disabilities, many positions require that a criminal back ground check be completed. No misdemeanor convictions would prohibit an applicant from consideration. If an individual has had past felony convictions they may not be eligible for hire. Also if individuals are convicted of a crime after they become employed they could be discharged from their position. Job postings at www.EgglestonServices.org will specify if an acceptable criminal background check is a requirement for a position.

  • What does a “qualifying disability” mean?

Job postings at www.EgglestonServices.org will specify if a qualifying disability is a requirement for a position. To be considered for a position open only to those with a qualifying disability, job applicants must submit documentation from a licensed medical provider along with their application. For a condition to be considered a qualifying disability the condition must be long term or chronic and provide a barrier to employment.

  • What if I need extra support and training on the job because of my disability?

Eggleston Services has a number of work programs that provide extra support and training for individuals with disabilities. An overview of the Eggleston Services’ work programs is provided at www.EgglestonServices.org. The Disability Services Manager at the Corporate Office at 757-858-8011 can answer questions about openings in work programs.

  • How are applications evaluated?

All job announcements contain the minimum requirements. These are the qualifications you must have in order to qualify for the job. Newspaper ads contain abbreviated information about job qualifications. More complete information, including physical requirements for positions, can be obtained through job postings on www.EgglestonServices.org or those posted at various Eggleston Services locations. It is important to read the job posting and to provide detailed information about your experience and skills as they relate to the requirements for the position. If you do not clearly identify on your application evidence that you meet the qualifications, you likely will not be selected for an interview. Applicants who bring specialized skills and/or have more than the minimum qualifications may be considered a strong candidate for the position. If there are many job applicants, only those considered to be strong candidates may be called for interviews.

  • I have submitted my application. What happens next?

If you are selected for an interview you will be contacted by Human Resources or the Hiring Manager to arrange an interview appointment, generally within two weeks of the closing date. Due to the volume of applications received, those who are not selected for an interview receive no response to their application.

  • I have applied for a job and have never been contacted for an interview. Why?

Most often the reason an applicant who meets the minimum qualifications is not selected for an interview is because there were a number of other applicants who met and exceeded the job qualifications.

  • What benefits does Eggleston Services offer employees?

Benefits offered by Eggleston Services vary according to the work location and the position. Examples of benefits that may be provided include health and dental insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, life insurance, retirement, holidays, and Employee Assistance Program. Job postings specify if a benefit package is being offered for a position. Details about benefits will be provided to any applicant selected for an interview.
