Eggleston takes ownership of Civitan Acres
The 14 acre property on Cedar Road in Chesapeake known as “Civitan Acres” was started in the late fifties by the Civitan Club of Norfolk. Since its inception, the property has been dedicated to providing leisure activities and wellness programs for children and adults with disabilities. Beginning in the early 1990’s the daily operations were taken over by Eggleston Services.
This last July, the Civitan Club voted to donate the property and the assets associated with the camp to Eggleston Services, recognizing that a bright future for the property could be best achieved by folding it into the Eggleston family.
Eggleston would like to thank the Civitan Club members for this generous gift, and more importantly, for their commitment to improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities in Hampton Roads. A special thanks to Civitan Club members John Bliley, Betty Jackson, Marylin Marsh, Susan Murphy, Herbert Anderson, John Shirley, Jack Hamilton, Ed Wood, Joe Hayes, James Hayes and Jeff Parker.
